The events of al-Khandaq and Hudaybiyyah teach different forms of responsible leadership. At the Battle of the Trench (often dated 5 AH), an external coalition threatened Madinah. Muslims used defensive planning and collective effort; the Qur'an recalls armies coming against the believers and Allah's help (33:9–10). Avoid treating every popular anecdote or drawing of trench measurements as an authenticated fact.
Learn the event as a clear story. Start with where and when it happened. Then ask what led to it, what the Prophet ﷺ and the people did, and what happened next. Put the main steps in time order. Some details are well supported by hadith, while others come from history books; do not give them all the same level of certainty. Avoid invented speeches or dramatic scenes. Finally, explain what the event teaches us about faith, fairness, leadership or care for others.
