Qist Maktab · Islamic Studies · Class 7
After difficult years in Makkah, the Prophet ﷺ experienced painful personal losses, traditionally associated in Seerah accounts with the passing of Khadijah رضي الله عنها and Abu Talib. This period is often called the Year of Sorrow. Facing continued opposition, he also sought opportunities to convey Islam beyond Makkah, including his journey to Ta’if, where he met rejection.
We discuss grief respectfully without graphic or theatrical descriptions. The story teaches that someone entrusted with a great mission still feels sadness and needs encouragement. Hope, prayer and patient effort belong together: rejection does not license revenge or contempt. When a friend experiences loss, we can listen, avoid forced cheerful slogans and help them reach caring adults.
