Qist Maktab · Islamic Studies · Class 7
Makkan opponents placed severe social and economic pressure on Banu Hashim and those associated with the Prophet ﷺ. Seerah works describe a boycott that restricted ordinary dealings and contributed to hardship. Instead of memorising dramatic or uncertain details, focus on how cutting off food, trade and social support can hurt families, especially children and vulnerable people.
The account also raises the question of moral courage: people who opposed an unfair measure could work for its ending. We can compare ordinary disagreements, which allow respectful discussion, with collective punishment that harms innocent people. A good classroom activity identifies the parties, the consequences and steps toward ending an unjust boycott, using labels rather than drawings of living persons.
