Qist Maktab · Islamic Studies · Class 6
The heart in Islamic ethics includes our inner intentions, wishes and habits. Purifying it means working against dishonesty, envy, cruelty and careless selfishness, while growing sincerity, gratitude and kindness. This is a continuing effort, not a claim that we can inspect or judge another person’s hidden heart. We may notice our own feelings, reflect on them and seek Allah’s help to improve.
Suppose we feel jealous when a classmate succeeds. We can identify the feeling without acting cruelly, congratulate the classmate and ask which skill we can practise ourselves. Regular Salah, sincere du‘a, remembrance, seeking forgiveness and honest self-review help train us. Change is shown through repeated better choices, not through announcing that we are more pure than others.
