Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born in Makkah into the Banu Hashim family of Quraysh. His father Abdullah died before his birth, and his mother Aminah died while he was young. He was then cared for by his grandfather Abd al-Muttalib and later by his uncle Abu Talib. Early Sirah reports also describe his period in the care of the nursing family of Halimah al-Sa‘diyyah. Our aim is to understand the sequence, without confusing later popular anecdotes with established reports.
The Qur’an reminds the Prophet ﷺ that Allah found him an orphan and gave him shelter. This passage invites us to treat children who have lost family care with dignity and affection. We should not assume an orphan cannot succeed or depict the Prophet ﷺ in illustrations; a family-care timeline can carry the lesson.
