Qist Maktab · Islamic Studies · Class 6
Before the mission of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Arabian communities differed in their ways of living. Some travelled as pastoral families, while others lived in settlements and traded goods. Makkah was important because of the Ka‘bah and the Quraysh trading networks. The Qur’an mentions their journeys in winter and summer. We should not describe every pre-Islamic person as identical: generosity and poetry existed alongside serious problems such as tribal injustice, idol worship and the neglect of vulnerable people.
For our timeline, place Makkah, major caravan directions and the sanctuary on a text-only map. We will learn how the Prophet ﷺ called people to worship Allah alone and replace injustice with accountability. Historical maps should show places and routes only: we do not draw the Prophet ﷺ, companions or other living beings. In Class 5 we surveyed events from the later Prophetic years. Class 6 now starts a closer, chronological study from the earlier Makkan context rather than introducing a different chronology.
