A suspicion is a negative conclusion made without enough evidence. Gossip and backbiting spread details about people who are not present and may damage their dignity; tale-bearing can carry words between people in order to create hostility. The Qur’an warns us against much suspicion, spying and backbiting. We should keep private matters private and distinguish a request for genuine help from the pleasure of exposing someone.
When a message claims that a classmate cheated, do not forward it, add comments or investigate their private phone. If there is a real safety or fairness concern, speak directly and discreetly to a trusted teacher with only what we actually know. We can apologise for rumours we passed on and repair harm without repeating the private story to more people.
