Words can comfort, teach and unite people, but can also spread false information and hurt feelings. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to speak good or remain silent. This guidance applies in classrooms, at home, in group chats and on social media.
Before sending a message, we can check whether it is true, useful, respectful and appropriate to share. Silence is wiser than joining gossip, but it does not mean ignoring someone who needs help; we may need to speak kindly or ask a responsible adult to intervene. Our speech should protect both honesty and dignity.
