When theologians speak about divine knowledge, power and will, they affirm meanings without treating God as a member of a created category. The same word can be predicated of Creator and creature while the reality and mode differ. Classical Sunni discussions distinguish the meaning affirmed by revelation from the manner of the attribute, which is not grasped through sensory analogy. Students should separate literal linguistic meaning, metaphor, equivocation and anthropomorphism. Compare how theologians safeguard both transcendence and meaningful affirmation, and avoid attributing a single formulation to every Sunni school.
