Buyers and sellers should be honest about price, quality and defects. Consumers should avoid waste and respect workers' rights.
Fair trade depends on honest descriptions, transparent prices and respect for workers and customers. A seller should disclose significant defects; a buyer should honour agreed payment. Consumers also make moral choices through waste, treatment of service workers and the pressure they create for dishonest marketing. Ethical consumption is not simply buying the cheapest item: it includes lawful means and responsible use.
