Qist Maktab · Islamic Studies · Class 7
Salah includes acts that are essential to its validity and other acts that complete and beautify our worship. Standing when required and able, bowing and prostration are examples of foundational elements. Juristic terms such as fard, wajib, sunnah and mustahabb help learners understand the level of obligation, but their precise classification can differ between schools of fiqh. It is especially important not to confuse an omitted essential element with an omitted recommended practice.
Our classroom will create a labelled chart for the prayer method taught by our qualified teacher, noting where jurists differ. We learn the meanings of recitation, ruku‘, sujud and tashahhud and practise with calm attention. If we forget something in a real prayer, we ask about its particular ruling rather than automatically repeating everything or inventing a correction.
