In 6 AH, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions travelled toward Makkah intending to perform 'Umrah, but Quraysh stopped them at Hudaybiyyah. Instead of forcing entry, the Prophet ﷺ entered negotiations.
A treaty was agreed with terms that some companions initially found difficult. The Muslims returned without performing 'Umrah that year. Yet the truce reduced fighting and created wider opportunities for contact and da'wah. The Qur'an described what followed as a clear victory.
