الثُّلَاثِيُّ الْمُجَرَّدُ هُوَ مَا كَانَتْ أُصُولُهُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَحْرُفٍ وَلَمْ يُزَدْ عَلَى بِنْيَتِهِ الأَصْلِيَّةِ حَرْفٌ لِاشْتِقَاقِ بَابٍ جَدِيدٍ.- Define Thulathi Mujarrad.
- Separate derivational augmentation from conjugational endings.
- Recognize Mujarrad and Mazid examples.
Thulathi Mujarrad has three original root letters and no added derivational letter in its basic pattern.
When classifying a verb as Mujarrad or Mazid, look at its derivational pattern, not merely at every letter visible in a conjugated form. نَصَرُوا contains the conjugational ending وا, yet its underlying verb نَصَرَ remains Thulathi Mujarrad.
Three Original Letters
ثَلَاثَةُ أُصُولٍ
Examples: ن ص ر, ك ت ب, ض ر ب.
No Derivational Augmentation
بِلَا زِيَادَةٍ اشْتِقَاقِيَّةٍ
The base pattern is built directly from the three original letters.
Conjugational Endings Are Different
اللَّوَاحِقُ التَّصْرِيفِيَّةُ
Pronoun endings such as وا or تُ do not create a new derivational bab.
Next: Six Abwab
الأَبْوَابُ السِّتَّةُ
The next lesson maps the six classical Madi–Mudari families before each receives its own lesson.
نَصَرَ ← ن ص ر
Root: ن ص ر; no derivational addition.
Thulathi Mujarrad.نَصَرَ + وا ← نَصَرُوا
وا is a conjugational ending for هُمْ, not a derivational augmentation.
The verb remains Thulathi Mujarrad.أَكْرَمَ ← أَفْعَلَ
Root: ك ر م; the initial أ belongs to the derived pattern أَفْعَلَ.
This is Mazid, not Mujarrad.Having three original root letters.
Without derivational augmentation in the base pattern.
Containing one or more derivational additions to the root.
A recognized Madi–Mudari pattern family in Sarf.
- Thulathi means three original root letters.
- Mujarrad means no derivational augmentation in the base pattern.
- Conjugational endings do not change a verb into Mazid.
- Thulathi Mujarrad is organized into six principal Madi–Mudari abwab.
- The next lesson introduces all six abwab together.
