Selected sentence translationClouds gathered in the sky after a hot afternoon, then rain began to fall in light drops. Soon the rain became heavy, the roads grew wet, and the holes filled with water. The smell of wet soil rose, and the trees appeared greener and fresher. Small streams of water ran between the fields, and the plants revived after days of dryness. After the rain calmed, children came out to look at drops of water on the leaves. The earth seemed as though it had awakened from a long weariness.
