The Sunnah conveys the Prophet's ﷺ guidance through transmitted reports and established practice. Its authority does not mean every attributed report is authentic. Distinguish authority in principle from verification of a particular narration.
The Qur'an tells Muslims to obey Allah and His Messenger. The Sunnah shows the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ teaching and example. It helps us understand how to pray and how to live with others. But we must not assume that every saying shared under the Prophet's name is truly his. Here are two different questions. First: does authentic Prophetic guidance have authority in Islam? Yes, according to the Qur'an and mainstream Sunni teaching. Second: is this particular report authentic? That must be checked using the methods of hadith scholars. A third question asks whether we have understood an authentic text correctly. Students should learn these three steps before arguing about a quotation: establish its source, understand its meaning and examine how it applies. For example, a message might quote half a hadith while leaving out words that change the meaning. Respect for Sunnah includes care with the text, not blind forwarding.
The Qur'an commands obedience to the Messenger.
A hadith report must be checked for authenticity.
A sound text still needs careful understanding.
Applying a teaching may require knowing its context.
