A hadith is a transmitted report attributed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, such as his statement, action or approval. Its matn is the reported wording; its isnad records transmitters through whom it was conveyed. Scholars examine reliability and meaning before using a report as evidence. A translation explains meaning for a new language, but can miss word choice, idiom, condition or context.
Read the Arabic hadith slowly and understand its simple meaning. Ask: who reported it, where is it recorded, and what does it teach? The words of the Prophet ﷺ must be kept separate from a narrator's explanation and a teacher's own example. A short quote shared online may leave out something important. Look at the context before using it to judge another person. Try to explain the teaching in your own words, give a real example, and say when the example might need more care.
