In 11 AH, after a period of illness, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ passed away in Madinah. His companions experienced deep grief because they loved him and had learned from him. The community then remembered that the Prophet ﷺ was Allah’s messenger, and that Allah alone is everlasting. The Qur’an remained a source of guidance and comfort.
We speak about this event gently and respectfully. Grief is a natural human response, and we may support one another by listening, praying and showing care. The Muslims continued studying the Qur’an and preserving the Prophet’s teachings. His passing reminds us to be grateful for guidance and remain responsible when a beloved leader is no longer physically present.
